Kushavarta Kund (sacred Pond) also lies in the temple premises built by the “Shrimant Sardar Raosaheb Parnekar,” known as Fadnavis of Indore State. Shri. Nanasaheb (Peshwa Balaji Baji Rao) constructed the current Trimbakeshwar Temple.
History of Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple:
Temple is located at the foothill of the mountain “Bramhagiri,” where the Holy River Ganga originates (Maharashtra’s longest river). The History of the Trimbakeshwar Temple is that it was built-in 1755-1786 AD by Shri. Nanasaheb Peshwa. The word “Trimbak” indicates Trinities (trideva): Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Mahesh. The Temple is made with black stone, and it is bordered with a 20 to 25ft stone wall that gives a prosperous look. In the Trimbakeshwar Shiva Temple premises, Kushavarta Tirtha (holy Pond) is 400m away located. It is 21ft deep pond that was built in the year 1750. It is believed that Kushavarta is the place where the holy Ganga River remerges after disappearing at Bramhahgiri hills and thus the superior holiness of the Kushavarta Tirtha.
It is said that many events are witnessed in the premises of this sacred place of Trimbakeshwar Shiva temple-like as Lord Rama came at Trimbakeshwar for doing Shraddha of their father Dashrath, Sage Gautama took the dip bath at Kushavarta pond (holy Pond). The Mukhya Dwar (main gate) of the Trimbakeshwar Temple leads us to the visit queue, splitting into 6-7 lines for devotees’ convenience. At the beginning of the temple, a prominent Nandi (made of white marble) faces the Shiva linga. Nandi is said to be the Vahana (Vehicle) of Lord Shiva (Shankara). It is believed that if one tells his wish/ desire in the ear of Nandi, then he will convey that wish to Lord Shiva. After the Nandi temple, there is a big (spacious to meditate and worship) hall called “Sabha Mandap,” and then “Gabhara” main temple where linga is situated.

Many rituals have scientific evidence and need to be done. Many scientists and philosophers say that these rituals can create stability and wealth in one’s life if performed with all the faith. In this very culturally rich country, there is also one culture related to previous generations’ death. It is considered that death is the end, but it is the beginning of new life, and to create a new life, Aatma or soul should leave the old body and embrace the new life.
The world is cyclic, and everything is revolving. Your karma is the same; wherever you go, they come back to you. It is very important that everyone related to you and your well-being should be satisfied and happy. This Shradha states precisely the same, aatma is cyclic; it has no end, and it can at the same time benefit you and make you prosperous in terms of education, wealth, experience, and happiness. It is noteworthy to fulfill these free aatma and souls to make our life stress-free. Shradha is a Sanskrit word that combines two words: “Sat” for reality and “Adhar” for foundation.
As a consequence, it refers to anything or any act that is undertaken with honesty and faith. “Shraddhyaa Kriyate Yaa Saa,” “Shradh is the rite performed to satiate one’s ancestors.” This Ritual reflects a person’s undying love for them. It is a sensitive and sincere appreciation of our generations and makes them fulfill.
If we think precisely, this Shradha Vidhi can benefit us for various reasons; homage to the ancestors and respect towards them can create stability between the Descendents’ souls. Expressing gratitude can make a clean way which can benefit us through the entire life. This process is not only done for present securing it also helps our coming generations and children. Nowadays, people think about scientific reasons, but these can be reasons to do these poojas.
- During the process, Yajmana can donate things to people, and blessings will lifelong help him
- Remembering the ancestors
- Giving respect and paying homage is always a kind act of living life
Which Gods are Worshiped During Tripindi Shradha?
Out of thousands of Hindu deity’s Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Mahesh are concerned about this particular Ritual. Lord Brahma is considered the God who created the entire world; as the creator of the new soul. The Power of Vishnu Pooja can be used to relax all the angry souls and bring them peace. And to make the afterlife work Lord Mahesh is worshiped. The people who are passed away in childhood and elderly and their spirit and wishes are not fulfilled, is in the same state to get salvation; these three gods can impact it.
Why Shradha Ceremony is Performed in Trimbak?
As per the Garuda Purana, after 13 days from the death of that person’s soul, the person starts its journey for Yamapuri, and it takes 17 days to reach there. For a further eleven months, the soul travels, and only in twelve months, it comes to the court of Yamaraj. At the period of eleven months soul has no access to food and water. So, it is stated that “Pinddaan” and” Tarpan” done by the family members satisfy the hunger and the thirst of the soul during the journey till it reaches the court of Yamaraj, and that is the reason Shradha rituals are considered very important during the first year of the death.
Significance of Pitru Dosh in Tripindi Shradha:
Pitru Dosh Mantra:
“ओम श्रीम् सर्व पितृ दोषो निवारनाय कालेशं हं सुख शांतिं देहि चरण स्वाहा”
The karmic debt of the forefathers, Pitra Dosh, is expressed in the horoscope as a planetary sequence. Pitra Dosh is a series of bad luck that exists in people’s lives due to the curse imposed on them by their forefathers who have passed away. Pitru dosh can cause a lot of stress in the family and cause a lot of restlessness. It may also occur due to ancestors being overlooked and not being given their due in the form of Shradha, charity, or spiritual advancement.
People who die and leave their bodies join the realm of the forefathers, known as Pitru Loka. Those who live in the pitru Loka suffer from extreme hunger and thirst. On the other hand, they cannot eat anything on their own and must rely on the offerings made to them during Shraadha rituals. As a result, the children need to reconcile them by continuing to observe the Shraadha ceremony. Failure to do so will provoke the forefathers’ wrath and result in Pitru Dosh.
Pitra Dosh is not a forefather’s curse. It is, however, a karmic debt owed to the ancestors, which must be paid by someone with Pitru dosh in their astrology. In simple terms, a Pitru Dosh appears in a person’s horoscope when his or her ancestors have committed specific errors, offenses, or sins. As a result, this person repays the Karmic debt by enduring various punishments levied on him for those debts in multiple areas of his life. This dilemma is better explained by astrology. Beneficial planets avoid producing beneficial outcomes as a result of the inflicted planets’ adverse effects.
Pitru Dosh is primarily responsible for life’s misfortunes. It happens as a result of the souls of deceased ancestors not receiving Nirvana. It also occurs when departed ancestors’ souls did not find peace or proper redemption at the time of their death. If a forefather’s death was accidental or happened at a young age, it is assumed that the forefathers’ soul or departed ancestors search earnestly for Moksha. Their souls do not achieve Nirvana due to their premature death and wander aimlessly on Earth. The second explanation is that their parental expectations are unfulfilled.
Pitru Dosh Puja Procedure:
Amavasya and Ashtami are the best days to perform the Pitru Dosh Niwaran. On Pitru Paksha, some people perform this pooja. Furthermore, this Pooja must be performed on the last day of Pitra Paksha. This pooja should be done based on the person’s Kundli and with the aid of an expert. For the Puja, Tripindi Shradh is used. Alongside the Kund, they perform Tripindi Shradh. On this Puja, people worship three Gods. After performing the Kalash Puja, worship Brahma, Vishnu, Shankar, and Gopal Krishna.
People perform a Pindh in honour of their ancestors who have passed away. From great-grandparents to uncles, aunts, brothers, sisters, mothers and fathers-in-law, and everyone else in the family who is no longer alive. It also includes the names of Gurujis who have died. These Pindhs are worshipped and given Kala Til, Jal, Pushpa, and Tulsi Leaves. The Vidhaan lasts 1.5 to 2 hours.
In the name of the forefathers who are no longer living, Bhakt will offer food and clothing.
Pitra Dosh Effects:
- Some inherited illnesses are passed down through the generations. These are passed on from generation to generation. Cystic fibrosis, Down syndrome, Mental Subnormality, diabetes, obesity, certain cancers, and heart attacks are examples of hereditary diseases.
- Those who believe in reincarnation will recognise that this is due to a deep conviction that our ancestors’ spirits are not resting in peace.
- The evil deeds done in a previous birth or in the past, whether intentionally or unintentionally, are a liability on us and must be cleared.
- The difficulties and challenges created by Pitra Dosha’s presence are revoked or minimized in an astrological birth chart.
